My neighbour, Su said recently to me, "Actually I've never had homemade chocolates before. They were very natural and unsweetened than other chocolates. That's why they were awesome!"
Ingredients
- 2-3 cups walnuts or mix of your favourite raw nuts.
- 1 cup unsweetened raisins, sultanas or currants.
- 3-4 tbsp cacao powder
- ¾ cup raw unfiltered honey
Coating
- ½ cup fresh moist coconut shreds
Making
the Chocolate balls
- Place all ingredients in a powerful blender and process until they combine well. Add more honey if necessary. Then the more you blend the finer will be your chocolate texture. I sometimes allow a few pieces of nuts to remain.
- Remove the mixture into a big bowl and by this time you should be able to form the mixture into a dough.
- Pinch a small amount from the chocolate dough and roll into small balls of your desire size.
- Roll the chocolate balls in coconut shreds.
- Keep refrigerated to keep firm.
- Enjoy!
Tips
- Quickly transfer the chocolate dough into the refrigerator for 10 mins to firm especially in warm weather.
- I find the McKenzie’s moist coconut flakes the best.
