Homemade Raw Chocolate Nut Balls - Quick Nutritional & Energy Snack

My neighbour, Su said recently to me, "Actually I've never had homemade chocolates before. They were very natural and unsweetened than other chocolates.  That's why they were awesome!"

I promised to give her the recipe so Su, here it is!

Ingredients

  • 2-3 cups walnuts or mix of your favourite raw nuts.
  • 1 cup unsweetened raisins, sultanas or currants.
  • 3-4 tbsp cacao powder
  • ¾ cup raw unfiltered honey

Coating

  • ½ cup fresh moist coconut shreds

Making the Chocolate balls
  • Place all ingredients in a powerful blender and process until they combine well. Add more honey if necessary. Then the more you blend the finer will be your chocolate texture.  I sometimes allow a few pieces of nuts to remain.
  • Remove the mixture into a big bowl and by this time you should be able to form the mixture into a dough.
  • Pinch a small amount from the chocolate dough and roll into small balls of your desire size.
  • Roll the chocolate balls in coconut shreds.
  •  Keep refrigerated to keep firm.
  • Enjoy!

Tips

  • Quickly transfer the chocolate dough into the refrigerator for 10 mins to firm especially in warm weather.
  • I find the McKenzie’s moist coconut flakes the best.
