Let’s Talk About Diabetes

There are two types of diabetes:

Type 1 Diabetes

  • People diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, also called “childhood diabetes” do not produce insulin on their own and usually have this condition from childhood. The cause of childhood diabetes is usually the drinking of cow’s milk.
  • Insulin is a hormone made by beta cells in the pancreas. When we eat, insulin is released into the blood stream where it helps to move glucose from the food we have eaten into cells to be used as energy.
  • Without insulin, the sugar (that fuels all of our cells) from foods that are consumed cannot be escorted into the cells that make up the body. Type 1 diabetics need to take insulin regularly and monitor their blood glucose levels for the rest of their lives.

Type 2 Diabetes

  • People diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes, often called “adult onset diabetes” is usually caused by the blocking action of the fat that is coating the cell preventing the insulin the body is producing from reaching the insulin receptor within the cell.
  • When your cells do not receive enough insulin to eliminate all the glucose from the blood or when the body stops being able to use the insulin effectively, a person is diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

This article is primarily written with Type 2 diabetes in mind, although the application of this information can often be a big help in improving symptoms of Type 1 diabetes and dramatically reduce insulin requirements.

I want to bring that to our attention because as we get further along in this article, we will find that animal source foods play a significant role in the cause and prevention of diabetes. So if you are interested in learning how to prevent diabetes and help rid one’s self from diabetes, read on!

Diabetes is rapidly emerging as a leading cause of death among Australians. It is also a leading cause of heart attacks, strokes, amputations, kidney failure, depression, dementia and severe infections – all of which themselves contribute to premature death. Diabetes is also linked to obesity! Diabetes can also lead to blindness, and restricted circulation!

How Common is Diabetes?

Diabetes prevalence figures in Australia are primarily estimated from findings arising out of the National Health Survey conducted by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
  • There are an estimated 1.2 million people aged 2 years and over (5.1% of the population) with diagnosed diabetes in Australia.
  • Of those who reported having been diagnosed with diabetes in 2014-15, 85% reported having type 2 diabetes (an estimated 1,002,000 people), 13.5% reported having type 1 diabetes (an estimated 158,900 people). In 2013, an estimated 6,091 children aged 0-14 had type 1 diabetes.
  • Diabetes prevalence (based on self-reports) almost doubled between 1989–90 and 2004–05. After stabilising between 2007–08 and 2011-12, the rate increased from 4.4% to 5.1% in 2014-15.
  • Type 2 diabetes is overrepresented among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander persons, with 12.8% of people aged 15 years and over returning test results showing that they had the disease in 2014-15.

The National Perinatal Data Collection estimates that 37,877 (6%) of women who gave birth between 2009-2011 were diagnosed with gestational diabetes.

Friend, you do not have to be included in the above statistics, nor do your spouse or children have to be included in these grim figures!

The choice of whether you or a family member develops, or dies from complications resulting from diabetes, is up to you!

Yes, you have complete control over whether you develop diabetes, because the curse of diabetes will not come without a “cause.” The Bible reiterates that fact in Proverbs 26:2, where we read: “ . . . so the curse causeless shall not come.”

The Cause of Diabetes

Some will tell you that diabetes is caused by a lack of or insufficient production of insulin by the body. But the truth is that most Type 2 diabetics are producing more insulin than the non-diabetic individual.

Others will tell you that sugar is the cause of diabetes. Sugar certainly plays a significant role, but sugar is not the CAUSE of diabetes.

The cause of diabetes is fat, the very fat found in high protein animal source foods, and the very high fat containing animal foods doctors in their ignorance prescribe diabetic patients.

When a person consumes animal source foods (flesh & dairy, including cheese), loaded with fat, this fat coats the body’s cellspreventing the insulin from reaching the insulin receptors within the cell so that it can properly handle glucose.

The failure of the insulin to reach the insulin receptors within the cell because of the blocking action of the fat causes blood sugar levels to rise ultimately leading to the diagnosis of Type 2 diabetes.

The body finds itself with too much glucose (sugar) in the blood, and due to the blocking action of the fat, it hinders the insulin’s ability to carry the glucose into the cells. (Insulin is essential for glucose to enter the cell.)

Glucose originates in the foods we eat, while the pancreas secretes the insulin, which is necessary to transport the glucose from the blood to the cells.

In a Type 2 diabetic, there is hardly ever a shortage of insulin initially! The pancreas is secreting plenty of insulin. In fact, most diabetics are producing more insulin than the non-diabetic. So the need for a Type 2 diabetic is not more insulin, but a change in diet.

Sadly a person suffering with Type 2 diabetes is given more insulin which just exacerbates the problem, while never fixing the problem.

The problem is not insufficient insulin, but rather, because of the blocking action of the fat coating the cells, the glucose is hindered from entering the cell. The pancreas responds by pumping out ever more insulin in an effort to get that glucose into the cells, but that insulin is hindered from entering the cell by the fat that is blocking its entrance.

Eventually the pancreas becomes exhausted, and stops trying to manage glucose, and this produces higher levels of glucose in the blood.

This is very dangerous, because when glucose builds up in the blood, instead of entering the cells as it is supposed to, the cells are starved of energy while this glucose buildup in the blood produces complications in small blood vessels, especially in the eyes, kidneys and heart.

The Solution To Insulin Resistance

The fat found primarily in animal source foods is what coats the cells and causes the cells to resist insulin, while the solution to insulin resistance is the removal of all animal source fat from the diet!

Once a person with Type 2 diabetes stops taking fat-laden animal source foods into their body, the fat begins to shed itself from the cells, and the cells become insulin sensitive once again!

This occurs because there is no longer anything to block the insulin from entering the cell. Now insulin no longer has a problem reaching the insulin receptors within the cells, and the person soon ceases to be diabetic.

How To Prevent Diabetes?

Without the fat, derived from these animal source foods, it is practically impossible for a person to develop type 2 diabetes. And on the flip side, if a person wants to get rid of diabetes, the very first step is to remove fat containing animal source foods from their diet.

It is almost certain that once a diabetic stopped consuming animal source foods, and adopted a 100% plant based diet, and started exercising, their diabetic problem will soon be a thing of the past.

Best Eating Tips for Someone with Diabetes:

Pay Closer Attention to Food Labels

While it’s certainly in your best interest to avoid foods with a label, make sure you’re taking a closer look at the nutrition facts on the organic packaged foods you eat. As suggested by the American Diabetes Association, you should pay attention to the calories, fats and sodium content. Avoid added sugars at all costs. Additionally, stick to packaged foods that have minimal ingredients. The less ingredients, the better. If you can’t pronounce an ingredient or you’ve never heard of it before, do some digging and understand if it’s a toxic additive before putting it in your system.

Cut Out Animal Products

Animal fat is the No. 1 enemy when it comes to diabetes. When you consume animal sourced foods like meats and dairy, they’re loaded with fats that coat the body’s cells. This layer of fat prevents insulin from reaching the insulin receptors of the cell, making it impossible for the body to properly handle glucose. Then, the pancreas works in overdrive to pump out more insulin, becomes exhausted and quits, producing higher levels of glucose in the blood. This can adversely cause complications in small blood vessels and impact the eyes, kidneys and heart.

“Animal fat is the No. 1 enemy when it comes to diabetes.”

So what’s the solution? Stop filling your system with these toxic fats so that your cells can learn how to process glucose properly once again.

Trust in Plant-Based Eating

You don’t have to rely on meats and other animal products to get essential protein, calcium and other nutrients. By following God’s plant-based, primarily raw food diet, you can strengthen your immune system, increase your energy and help support your self-healing body in maintaining healthy blood sugar levels.
